It's always really nice when we get a compliment on our work, and we do get quite a lot (apologies for the humblebrag) which is much appreciated, although probably not best for my ego based on my son's feedback. Anyway, it was really interesting when I saw a couple of people mention the recent Disney "Lilo & Stitch" conversion showing in cinemas with suggestion that EYEPOP-3D could have done a better conversion.

Now I do appreciate we're setting the bar pretty low as the feedback on the 3D for "Lilo & Stitch" has been somewhat underwhelming, nevertheless it is still a full commercial conversion, released by a major Hollywood studio so being compared favourably to such thing feels like no mean feat. (I wait with baited breath until I ever hear that we're reaching Jurassic Park/T2/Titanic levels with our conversions!)

Most importantly this doesn't mean any disrespect to the conversion house who produced this, our understanding is they had limited time due to the change from Disney+ to theatrical release and of course the decision as regards 3D has been made by experienced, professional stereographers who work to deliver 3D to ever decreasing budgets, so without inside knowledge of these decisions & timescales it is unfair to pass comment on what was achieved. It should be noted that this film has done pretty well at the box office, so it's possible Disney may consider this budget approach to conversion as a more appropriate level of investment for 3d in future?

Of course that still leads us to think - well what if we had done the conversion - and the best we could come up with is to try another of our "Just For Fun" Trailer conversions to see how it might come out. Full disclosure I haven't seen the new "Lilo & Stitch" at all so I really can't say whether our 3D is anywhere near the final commercial product - I can say it looks pretty good on my big home cinema screen though! (Pretty good, but not perfect for anyone who wants to point out any flaws).

So why not grab you glasses and take a look and see what you think of our completely unofficial 3D conversion of the Trailer for 2025's "Lilo & Stitch" in 3D!

Note: This is an unofficial trailer conversion created for entertainment and concept purposes. It is not affiliated with The Walt Disney Company.
